Mining Weekly

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Vunani said on Wednesday that it had completed the acquisition of a 37,5% stake in Black Wattle Colliery from UK-based Bisichi Mining.
"We are very excited about this coal mining investment. It provides a platform from which to build both organically and by acquisition our interests in the coal-mining sector," Vunani CEO Ethan Dube commented in a statement.
London-listed Bisichi owns the balance of the mine.
Black Wattle, an opencast colliery near Middelburg, produces high-quality export steam coal, low phosphorous metallurgical coal, and Eskom coal with total sales of 1,40-million tons a year.
In terms of the transaction, Vunani Capital acquired 110 ordinary shares and 265 "A" ordinary shares in Black Wattle at par value, resulting in an effective shareholding of 37,5% in Black Wattle.
The "A" ordinary shares will rank pari passu with ordinary shares save for a restriction on the dividend right. "A" ordinary shareholders will be entitled to dividends once the agreed amount of dividends to ordinary shareholders have been distributed as specified in the agreement.
